Makes me want to make space in the freezer :D

Just Kidding!

Its a great shot Dave. Certainly fits the ambient theme. Whether or not it will be a contender is anyones guess....pretty cool.

This is an interesting perspective - behind the deer caught in the headlights.

I think this is a fantastic shot that tells a story.

Wonderful shot. You have told a common story from an uncommon point of view.

I think a got a better shot than the deer shot.

My brother bought a strobe light at some used goods store, so I thought I'd give it a try at the studio.
This light is pretty poor quality. It seems like it reflects back, and when the light comes out, it puts out
a very uneven light. You get kind of bars of light.
I ended up putting the strobe behind an umbrella to try to even it out.
Then the light was really weak.

I may try to find one that puts out a more even light and try a few more things.

Anyway, with a ton of post work, I got one out of 54 shots to look OK, as long as it's real small. :D
I have this entered at the moment.

This is shot at 8 seconds, f3.2, ISO 800

I call this: Guitar Hero, Old School.

Your strobe shot is a great shot for the competition as it highlights one of the unique qualities of a strobe. Well executed. Your photo of the deer is timeless and amazing. I could see it in a print ad for headlights. I'm glad I'm not the one having to make the final choice. Both are great shots. Good luck!
