Excellent shot Ed! I also love the windmill vanes, I don't see them that much anymore.
Did he just take off or was he getting ready to grab a field mouse or something? Here's a Red Tailed Hawk I caught this evening.

Those are great, ED. I love the colors.
Harry, I have some soft hawk in flight shots I will give you. One isn't too bad, it was getting there.
Yes, Ed, where do you find a windmill?

Sweet light too :thumb :thumb
Too bad he was so far away :rolleyes
I see lots of redtails, everyday on the way to work. They just sit on the lightpoles, waiting for dinner to fly by. This morning there were two of them doing a mating dance in the air, and real close :clap But, I didn't have the camera and was driving on the freeway (almost crashed while rubbernecking, as it was). I guess that's the way these things work....lol Like the phone ringing the minute you step into the shower :giggle
Ahhhh well, I guess it just makes those really good captures, when you finally get them, even more precious :):
Thanks for sharing,

Thanks Steve, it was a little before sunset and I shot this across a pretty busy road. By the time I was able to turn around and try to get closer he was long gone...
I know what you mean about rubbernecking, it's amazing some days when I see something interesting, bird, car, whatever looks like it might be a shot, that I havn't run into another car (yet)
But that's one of the great things about photography, it really gets you to look around and actually see what's around you. ( if that made sense )

Didn't do a thing, the bird is higher than you might think, and it's turning to it's right going away from the sun
