Having to guess here, your EXIF links don't work. :D

Same flower, one with flash one without...
I like the black background of the second shot,
the colour of the flower is enhanced more from the flash,
also the flash hitting the leaves at the front looks good too.

Interesting how changing the light source seems to change everything.

Hi David,
Having to guess here, your EXIF links don't work.

I am unsure why - I copied and pasted the links right from the info link in the flyout from my gallery. At any rate I updated the links so that "smugmug" is not there and used my custom domain. They seem to work now.
Same flower, one with flash one without...
I like the black background of the second shot,

In the blue shot the primary light was aimed at the background. to create a spotlight effect. No other flash was used.

In the second the background was changed to black and the light was aimed into the flower. No other flash was used.
