Hi,
I was out at the lake today and there were a couple of kids wandering around birdwatching. One of the birdwatchers came kind of close to me but didn't see me cause I was camo'd up and tucked into the weeds. He walked into the weeds going away from me and not more than 10 seconds later, exactly where he went in, this guy came wandering out. They had to almost run into each other. He wasn't spooked, just walking along looking like a wily coyote usually does.
He came walking directly toward me. When he finally spotted me he had nowhere to go except over me or for a swim because we were both on a little peninsula surrounded by water. I was trying to look thru the viewfinder while watching out of the other eye to see which he was going to choose because I had nowhere to go either since I was backed up to the weeds at the edge of the water.. just the route he wanted to take.
Finally he chose the water, but didn't like it at all. The cropped shot of his head was when he was about 30 feet (at the most) in front of me just before he went swimming.
Hope you like them..

Very nice series. Coyotes are very hard to capture because they are so shy of humans. The light is very good in these photos too.

Hi Stephen, Thanks for viewing. I don't see many 4 legged critters down at the lake so it's fun to capture one. The sun was in the perfect position but I was hunkered down in the weeds looking for BIF's so they have some clutter in them.

Hi Jeff, Thanks for your comments. I really didn't expect him to go swimming. But when he did he never looked back.

Hi Joel, Thanks for your comment. It got a bit spooky when the guy walked into the weeds and then Wily Coyote immediately came walking out.
After all, it was Holloween Eve..:rofl

Coyotes are common in my neck of the woods. I see them most days, hear them most nights, but I have never seen a coyote swim. Thanks to you, I can never say that again! Way cool. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Dee, Thank you for your comment and for viewing. You should see these guys here in the summer when it is 100 degrees, talk about mangy. He's getting a nice winter coat on and probably didn't appreciate me making him swim for it.
Now if it had been a Mtn. Lion it would have been me going for the swim..:rofl

If you want to shoot another one, there's this one old fella that lives near the parking lot of Old Tucson Studios, he's over in the far side of the parking lot every day.

Hi Leaforte, Thanks for viewing. Living in Colorado for 20 years and then the Phoenix area I've seen 1000's. I've seen them standing on the street corner in downtown Phoenix and standing outside my home office in a heavy residential area, but I never saw one swim either.. and probably never will again..:rofl

Thanks for viewing Dallas, Most of the ones around here do the same, I think this one got rousted out of his nap by the birdwatcher.
