Pictures taken from "Tops" specifally to examine the results of the 500 f/4.0L and the Canon 1.4x extender. Light was literally spotty.

The International School is close to my home and a 45 minute drive from Tops. In the first shot you can see a white building 1/3 the way from the right hand border and centered vertically. The 2nd shot is of that bulding with the 500mm & 1.4x combo. The last shot is a full res crop.

That is pretty good reach. Looks like you will have some fun with that combo.
