Working my way through my zoo shoot. This is a greater kudu, a large antelope found in southern and eastern Africa:

Thanks for looking. C&C always welcome.

Fixed (I think). Actually, he was a bit on the blue side, but probably not that much. Thanks for the suggestion. :thumb

It's a fine shot, Richard. :D
My advice, FWIW, would be to blur or otherwise dismiss the "cell door" behind the horns.

Thanks, Ric. I thought the jail was dark enough that it wouldn't be noticed, but it ought to be easy enough to fix. I'll look at it again with fresh eyes in the morning. :thumb

Nice one Richard :thumb
Interesting, that folks over there think the kudu shouldn't be blue. Dan Margulis used one of my kudu pics in one of his workshops, and everyone who used the kudu tried to make it a brown antelope. Here is a pic (http://bigal-sa.smugmug.com/gallery/3079082#169728508-A-LB) of one in the wild, not a good pic because of the weather, but you can compare it to a brown antelope, in the form of an impala, in the background.

Thanks, Al. I am way out of my depth on this forum, city rat that I am. Sirsloop's comment sent me Googling, where I found that the color ranges from red-brown to blue-gray.
BTW, I looked at the rest of your gallery from Kruger Park. Great stuff. Sure wish I could go there instead of the zoo.
Cheers,
BigAl

Cheers,Thanks Richard. Must say I've never see a red-brown kudu in my life. Doing a keyword search on smugmug shows quite a few mis-IDs. Here is one that is some kind of oryx (http://www.smugmug.com/keyword/all/kudu#172668181), and this one is a sitatunga (http://www.smugmug.com/keyword/all/kudu#163274552).
