Well I like these, and good to see some street work posted here. Personally, I like the street character studies more than the cute ironies. I took the liberty of visiting your smugmug gallery and you are loaded with great street character shots! Hats off to you, brother!!
(Just a suggestion to Dgrin -- why not change the name of the "Field & Street" category to "Landscapes" with "Rural & Urban" in the subtitle. It is almost as if whoever laid out the categories way back when thought street photography was all about 'the streets' :D ) Or combine street photography with a new photojournalism category -- at least that would be a better fit than landscapes...)

Thank you very much. Doesn't really require guts. Seriously.

First of all - many thanks for kind words! Second, very sharp and intersting observation re: 'street character studies' vs 'cute ironies'. I myself like both, but am better at former than the latter. That said, this particular post was moslty about 'cute ironies'.
Many thanks again!
PS I would support the proposed 'shuffle' too.

Interesting - a second reply about guts :) I really don't think it requires that much guts. Some kinds of street photography certainly do (they also tend to require teeth insurance)... but not that kind :)

I guess I tend to over think it and worry about it, I worry that someone will be really offended, and I am the type who worries about that kind of thing even though I know it is really a waste of my time to worry!!! :)

I am with you - I think about other people's feelings a lot too :) But the simple (and wonderful!) truth is that most people are not only not offended, but curious, excited, puzzled, interested, flattered etc., etc.
Some ARE offended to be sure, but then I just apologize and don't take the picture (or delete it afterward)... Curiously enough, some people become much friendlier and don't mind their picture being taken AFTER I show them that I won't take a picture without their consent...
Then again - if I couldn't shoot street, I'd probably just sell the camera and call it a day. :)

#1 is incredibly clever and great seeing. I find these types of ironies are more difficult to capture than the character studies. This one is brilliant!
#6 (just had to include it here again!) made me smile! What a fantastic photo, scene and characters. A complete, textured story in one frame. Well done! glad to see you back! :thumb

I really enjoyed these! I have tons of respect for anyone who's good at street photography. It's something I've always wanted to try...guess I need to get over my 'shyness.'
