Ben got engaged yesterday and wants a fun, informal, totally cool pose.
Got some ideas?

These pics aren't great, but I really like the pose of the first one, and the concept of the second! :lust

In this one I wish the poles werent behind the guys head, and that the water tower wasnt behind the girls head.

And in this one I wish I noticed the extra light on her wrist at the time, I would have moved us to a more shaded area.

We had some fun after Church in taking these pictures. We had them running and jumping over something to get some mid air pictures, but none of the midair ones were great, but I thought this one would look interesting with my color sketch effect.
pbase is a pain, it doesnt seem the images are working. The links should work though.

Andy's kiss in Grand Central Station (Andy please post) was a really fine example. Of course you have to have GCS delivered to CA to do this.
Mazeltov to Ben!

shay - how do i ask this... does that last photo have a 2 tone desaturation? the woman looks like she is monochrome with a warming layer/filter, but the man's head is more straight up monochrome, with no warming??? Is it my screen or my eyeballs? His head kinda looks photoshopped in completely.

Just a simple sepia toned image. I used the channel mixer to make it B&W and then overlaid it with a sepia layer with the blending set to 'color'.
Here is what it looks like in color:

Shay, how was your flash mounted for this shot? (http://www.shaystephens.com/viewer.asp?I=695) I know it's flash, but my weak eyes don't see any shadow. Very nice work.
And was this one (http://www.shaystephens.com/viewer.asp?I=705) flash? The couple stands out, and the colors are gorgeous.

The flash was on a light stand, and either on the ground or held by Jennifer (assistant).
For the second shot, I was using flash that day, though I don't specifically remember if it was used on that shot or not.

Well, we shot some cool settings but I ripped off a couple of closeups just in case and that's what they ended up liking. They just can't decide between color treatments:

I saw an engagement photo online recently (sorry, can't remember exactly where...) where the couple was laying on the (grassy) ground head to head (their bodies going opposite directions) looking towards each other with their arms cradling each other's head...very sweet and memorable. I'll see if I can find the link for you...it was a pro wedding photog's site. I thought it was really creative and different, but could still be used in the newspaper announcement since their faces were clearly shown.
Congrats to Ben on his engagement! Let the wedding planning begin...:rofl
Cheers!

I am a big fan of 2 NY Wedding/Engagement photographers. I have seen so many really great shots from both, I just couldn't help becoming a fan :clap :clap
Shay's shots have always knocked my socks off. After looking at some of his images here, I'm sure you will agree. My other fav is Shay's good friend and all around great guy, Ulysses :thumb
Here's a link to his site (if someone hasn't already posted it)

They told me that they've just been engaged.
Does this count?

*Sigh*
No. I really need to make calls. but I'm still figuring out what I want. I dont want just studio type posed shots. I like the idea of photo journalism and captures of the best unexpected shots.
A few of the people I really like... well they want $4000 and $8000... heck, I have 5 kids. How can I even begin to afford that?
Then there are people who obviously want to do it for like.. $1000? but at that price?? I've seen their work and they have over exposed images at high noon weddings. I want someone who knows what they are doing because somewhere in my head? i do know something about photography. I am looking for someone who can make a fat bride feel skinny. Who can make an evil step sister feel like Cinderella... and someone who understands that my wallet is the size of ... welll.... .
Something at the dollar store :)
Know anyone?

these were not engagement but the pose would show off the ring well.
searching some of the stock photo houses for "engagement" or "engaged" or similar search terms.
Another idea would be to think of a mutual interest Ben and his finance have, or activity, where they first met, etc., and take a photo there.
