As you walk through the streets of Brussels, especially the old town you may be forgiven for thinking you are a part of some fairy tale. Richly decorated building capture the attention of tourists. And if you manage to take your eyes of them then your other senses are treated to some fantasies. For example 250 types of beer available from a local bottle shop. And if you have a sweet tooth than a waffle with strawberries and cream is always just around the corner. But as you can see from this photograph of a worried girl (http://www.digital-photo.com.au/v/People/Street+Photography/Worried-Girl-Street-of-Brussels-101_8099-Web.jpg.html)not everything is rosy in Brussels. We saw a lot of street kids, homeless and gypsies around the town sleeping in passages and begging wherever they could. I hope whatever this girl’s worries are they can be overcome.

It looks to me as though she has a book in her lap and she's reading it, holding up her head with her right hand. But, I wasn't there and I don't have the additional perspective(s) you had on-scene.

Anyway you cut it, this is a very well done photograph.

Very nice capture, Ted. I like your description in the caption, but even without that, this picture speaks volumes. It's great when a single shot can lead the viewer to create entire scenarios in their mind. Really good work here!

The white stripe you see is part of her clothing and not a book edge.

The body language says it all. What a poignant, sad capture. Definitely not your everyday tourist photo. I do love your street photography.
