I just got back from a short weekend vacation to the city of St. Louis! One of my friends works for Anheiser Bush and wanted to take me and another friend out to a winery to celebrate octoberfest, missouri style. Unfortunately it was raining the whole day, which led to some crappy shots, but I managed to salvage a few. Here's my buddy Castro as we boarded the Party bus to the Winery.

Unfortunatly our ingenous plan of pushing the cork into the bottle to get the wine to flow was foiled almost immediately as evidenced by the leatherman stuck halfway through the cork.

First stop was the Twin Mill Brewing company

Next Stop: Hermanhoff Winery, famous for wines, sausages, cheeses, bratwursts and potato pancakes!

"Richard" kept us entertained with many folk songs including polka's and traditional bavarian songs. I don't know if "richard" is the singer or the accordian. Either way it was quite spirited fun

This guy was able to decork a wine bottle MUCH faster then our failed attempts with the leatherman tool.

Rain was a constant enemy the entire day. The few spots that were covered were quickly claimed and people had to get creative.

A quick trip to the wine cellers below Hermanoff revealed an underground city packed to the brim with aging wine, and dark corners. It was a bit eery after a while, but we were greatful to be out of the wet stuff.

By the time we left the celler, the rain had created a gigantic mud pit on a hill overlooking the winery. Brave souls would attempt to scale the hill, usually to be greeted by a face full of mud. These two brave Missourian ladies took it all in stride. Whoever said there were no attactive women in Missouri was clearly hanging out in the wrong places! :wink

Once we arrived back in St. Louis, our host took us to "Ted Drew's" Frozen Custard store. This Missourian staple sells some of the BEST ice cream confections I have ever had the pleasure of eating. I was treated to apple pie with vanilla icecream, smothered in caramel syrup. Absolutely delicious.

After getting ice cream we watched the sunset over the pond in the middle of a large park in Missouri. It is supposed to be double the size of central park in New York. Paddle boats and row boats were available to rent, and ducks and other wildlife were happy to eat the crumbs left by playing children.

Took a few night shots, while we finished our beers.
