yeah yeah......they call me papa-rotsy!!

I am not crazy about 1. I wish I had handled the reflector differently and lit above her cheeks more than below. I think it looks unatural, but is still a keeper.

Stunning Shots. The selective color on 4 works well. Love the pp on all of them.

I am a huge proponent of NEVER doing selective color, I think it always looks pretty cheesy. It does in this case at least pull my 3 subjects out of the clutter in a photo that would otherwise have been busy AND rather cheesy anyway.

I am sure I will hear it from my fellow photographers here who know where I stand on selective color. I think they have not commented yet because they are digging through all my old posts where I said how much I dislike it!!!

Oh I agree about the modeling agency! Beauty abounds in your family, but even more than that, there is such a sweetness captured, a gentleness and a warmth that comes through the lens. Hearwarming to see these shots. Thank you!

wow, just wow! Great shots and beautiful girls. I want to go smack that kid and tell him to button his shirt sleeves before standing near a lovely lady like that!! Boys are sooo clueless. I know, I used to be one, and occasionally still am.

well done sir.

Well, I don't really like the hands in the pockets either, but he is a pretty good guy and fairly quiet and shy. I made the decision to just let him be himself, and hopefully be comfortable. He still looks a bit uptight to me....but that is the best we could do in 10 minutes!!

well if they are nearly bald at 40 then I will take credit for their looks. Until then......they get it from their momma!!!

Many of you have commented on 10 and 13. I use the LAB color space method to do most of my BW conversions. It produces really gentle and delicate tones. After the conversion I generally go back to RGB and use a warming filter to get away from pure greys. The images have to be sharpened before conversion because noise is generally magnified in the conversion, and any sharpening after would make this worse. I typically do a high pass sharpen followed by some smart sharpening IF I sharpen the image at all.

If you haven't tried it yet high pass sharpening really rocks!!

#4 just works. Nice!

I have tried to do this every time we have an event like this. I have a nice collection of other parents sizing up their subjects in viewfinders and lcd's. It is just another way to tell a story of the excitement and specialness of the occasion. I am glad you think it works.....selective color is a gamble that seldomly pays off!!!

TRue.....they are young but once, and onlt for a moment. Seems we were just recently bottle feeding and potty training.
