A few days ago, I shot an event for an association of entrepeneurs who had a family outing at the zoo. Here are a couple of shots I made of the kids in attendance.

For the full gallery, look here (http://howard-starrett.smugmug.com/gallery/3644192#P-1-15).

Comments are most welcome.

These images were made with the Nikon D80, Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 AF, SB-600, and a diffusion dome.

Thanks for sharing.

Of all the shots, I like 1 the best, cute expression with big bright eyes. beautiful.

for me, many of the rest are lacking and for vaious small reasons, however I think 4 and 5 can benefit from some cropping, although her skin tone in 5 seems off.

nice.

Would have like to see them more within the zoo environment. But besides that nice shots...

Like #3! She looks so sleepy after a long day at the zoo.

Thanks, Andi. Glad you dropped in for a look. BTW, I really enjoyed your shots from the wedding boot camp!!!

I would have liked to have shot more of the zoo environment as well. Unfortunately, this event was confined to a few small spaces, and animal handlers brought out only one small animal at a time to show the kids. Some of those are in the gallery. Thanks for your comments.

Indeed! That shot is definitely one of my favorites from the day. Sometimes you get lucky and capture the moment with the perfect expression. Thanks for commenting.

I changed the crop on # 4. Does this work better?

Thanks so much, Randy. Yes, it was a paying gig. The client seemed really pleased with the outcome. They have a regular photographer, but she was previously booked for another gig, so I got a call at the last minute to see if I could come shoot candids for them.

If I could go back and do it again, there are a number of things I would approach differently, but I guess that's just for me to worry about. They loved the work, so I'll just keep my opinions of my own photographic shortcomings to myself and work on them privately!

Thanks for the comment.:D
