These are a few shots from our Stalker Challenge recently. I would love your C & C. I value your opinions on how to get better.

Love # 3, I wonder how fast do you need your shutter speed to be to capture a moving bullet from an M16? ;)

Nice Shots!

I had my 20D on its fastest shutter (1/8000th I believe) and shooting at 5fps, but was not able to catch the bullet from a 1911 .45ACP pistol in any of the shots. Now the bullet from an M16 is significantly faster than the .45ACP... I guess you don't only need a fast shutter speed, but something like 500fps shooting mode :D

1 did nothing for me, I couldnt pin down why neccesarily, maybe its the firendly look on his face with a noise filled b&w shot, doesnt work for me.

I really like 2. Its one of those captures that you can almost hear. I can feel that picture. I like that. I would have loved if the 2 gents on the outer edge were closer to the "abusee", i.e. really in his face and less cut off.

Although I like 3, theres so much blur, both foreground and back that it distracted me.

4 is my least favorite of the bunch. He seems less determined and more tired (although I sure dont blame him!). It just wasnt compelling to me.

I cant tell you how to make em better, since you take better shots than I do, but well, I just gave you my take... its free!

Thanks for the replies. Its funny that you got "less determined and more tired" from his look. Because that is really what he was feeling I believe. The original caption for that was "This Sucks" but I wasn't sure about the political correctness of a title like that.

I've never tried to capture a bullet, but you can bet the next time I'm at the range, I will sure try.

Thought I responded before, but I like #3 the most. He actually looks like he's about to smirk in #2.

I think you need stroboscopic lighting to catch a bullet. :)

I too love #3 the best. I also like 2 (a little dark) and 4, his expression says it all. Nice work! I would stay away from bullets... :huh

Its funny, the longer I have been in the military (20 years now) the more I wish I was a pacifist too. Too much senseless violence that doesn't seem to solve anything. I agree that a strong military is important to protect the country and the US military has been good to me, but I'm ready to go back to the isolationist attitude and pull us home for a while.
