I actually wanted to like this one, but I dont. I'm not even entirely sure why.
I guess dont like how the happy flowers in the foreground takes away from the ominous look of the mountain fog... kinda like a big mean lookin dude with a huge smile. meh
I'm also not happy with how the grouping of trees stops 1/2 to 3/4 from the end of the mountain base.... it kinda draws my eye there in a bad way. Its a 2 out of 5 shot for me.
That being said, I am about as qualified to judge photography as I am at performing brain surgery, so I wouldnt pay to much attention to my rantings!

T-Dog, I think the shot would be great if there was some definition in the sky. I think it would improve greatly if you cut some of the dead space on the left It would bring the focus in tighter. Other than that though I think black and white is the way to go.
On another note is the Misty Mountain a reference to location in the Tolkein universe?:wink

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it. I have to say I don't see the "happy flowers" in it, but I think you are talking about the tree leaves at the bottom right of the photo.
I see what you mean about the trees on the shore. As I can't re-shoot I'll try to keep it in mind for the future.
Again, thanks for the feedback I appreciate it.

Thanks for the critique! I like the crop, however I was completely unable to pull any more detail out of the clouds in the conversion. I found I could pull some out in the color, but when I converted it they just washed out... I can't figure out how to preserve those subtle grays... I'll keep working on it though!
Again, thanks for the feedback.

I have to concur about the tree in the foreground, I almost want to duck when I look at this picture.
If I cover the top of the pic with a book or my hand - I thought that brought out the imagery and sense of mystique a lot more.
The flower tree thing might work if was more of the foreground, and the mountain was it's backdrop.
The image has a lot of potential, I'd be interested to see what a re-shoot looks like.

Unfortunately Two Medicine is about 2,245 mi away from me. So, no re-shoots :(
Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the feedback! I'm sure you'll find other mountains to shoot in the future.
Keep it up!

You have to take a picture on its own terms. Or at least give it a chance. I think you've set up an effective contrast between foreground and background. I also think that would work even better if the whites were whiter. I want the whitepoints on those blossoms to be WHITE. That will enhance their contrast with the misty mountain even more. Well done.

Thanks for the feedback! The image is pretty flat with the white being true white... aside from that, there weren't any blossoms on the tree. I'm not much into horticulture, but I don't think Aspens blossom :):.
Thanks again for the feedback (this is one of my favorite shots, so it's nice to know someone else likes it :D )
