I'm trying to figure out licensing/legalities concerning shooting buildings in NYC. I have a foursome of people that want to take pictures for their brochures with specific buildings in the background, ie, Stock Exchange, Morgan Stanley and some others. Any city dwellers here with some info and direction?

I have been directed to this link:

http://www.nyc.gov/html/film/html/permits/shooting_home.shtml

but am still unsure if this applies to including the building, or even for using it for commercial use. Its seems pretty straightforward, and simple, with the permit allowing this, but I simply want to make sure and see if others have had experience.

Thanks in advance.

I belive the best souce of information on this topic is Bert Krages, a lawyer and expert on photography and the law. You can learn all about this subject in his book, Legal Handbook for Photographers. I got my copy at Amazon. He devotes several pages to the laws governing the photography of buildings. I believe he has a website as well.
