Hey all, I just want to introduce myself. I've been getting into photography over the past two years. First with my Canon A40 and now with a Canon 300D Digital Rebel. I love taking pictures and am learning more and more everyday. I still have a lot to learn. Someday I hope to be as great of a photographer as you... (yah YOU!) :wink

I live in Tarzana, California (within Los Angeles) and work in Westlake Village (Ventura County). I work in information technology, so I hope I can help those who have computer hardware/software questions. I'm sure I'll have plenty of photography questions for you... (yah, I mean YOU again!) :wink

Ever since they changed my computer to a laptop and gave me a dedicated, local printer, it will only print three pages at a time, when printing a large document. It pauses every three pages, whereas when it was a network printer it spat out the whole thing non-stop.

If you can solve this problem, I will make sure you become an award-winning photographer with long hair, a studio in Paris and I'll even teach you how to call people "dahling."

Sounds like a safety feature built into the printer by the manufacturer to keep the printer from over-heating. It's supposed to do that. Now can I have my tickets to Paris?

Seriously, what make and model printer? How much RAM on the computer connected to it? What type of connection (USB 1.x, USB 2.x, Parallel, etc.). What operating system? I'll look into it. It could just be a spooling/memory issue.

Does Poughkeepsie have good cheese?

I'll bet you're right about the memory issue, that makes sense. On the network, I bet the server swallowed large documents with ease, but not when the thing's linked directly to my laptop.

OK, so here's all you need to know to be a photo pro dripping with dames and French fragance: watch everything Shay Stephens and Andy say, and follow them to the letter. Watch everything Fish says, and do the opposite. :D

Before you know it you'll be fighting off the fans with baguettes. :evil

That printer should be able to spit out 17 pages per minute stock. My guess is that your computer's memory is the bottleneck. Make sure you have the latest and greatest XP drivers for that printer installed. Aside from upping the RAM on your laptop, make sure you are using a "bi-directional IEEE 1284" parallel cable.

Should I buy my speedos now or while in France?
