Seen a few threads recommending Digimarc for watermarking, and did some reading that you can track down stolen photos that are posted online etc... the question here is... how easy is it to circumvent (resize? change compression?) and whether it's worth it for anything other than their included offsite storage as a backup?

Pros, what say you? Is it worth the added expense and effort, or is it just cashing in on overly paranoid people? I'd post a poll, but I'd rather hear logic :)

I have not met one person that uses it.

Have you had the opportunity to read this:

I've been wondering about Digimarc for a long time. It would be so great to be able to track down people who snag images illegally.

Wondering if SmugMug might be able to partner with Digimarc or some other tracking company and allow users to add it as an option.

The only comments I've ever seen on it are that it's worthless. And--I don't believe I'm going to type this :huh--Rockwell has a pretty good article there.

Like the vast majority of photogs that don't want unauthorized use, I use visible watermarks on the image. If the client wants a clean shot, they need to pay for it.
