This is an interesting shot of a musician on stage with an intriguing, pensive look on his face. However, those doggone stage lights are ruining it for me. The greenish yellow on his face contrasted with the bluish red on his arm feels rather alien to me. Also, the focus seems a tad soft. Maybe at the next concert you could get a little closer and use fill flash? :dunno

Quick comment, don't know if I'm out of line or off topic now, but: Most festivals and consert halls (along with most bands) wont allow flash, and if they do: only for a few select photographers. (or, atleast this is my experience as a bouncer/security guy on everything from small intimate concerts to Tool and Nine Inch Nails).

You are correct -No Flash allowed in this one either............Hand held at 1/15th of a second......I'm sure that's why the image is as soft as it is. Wish this old guy had more steady hands like I did in my youth...

No flash... darn! I don't envy you. Those stage lights are not exactly photography friendly.

concerts are VERY difficult. But the colored lighting is part of the environment so, in my opinion, capturing the color is part of capturing the moment.
Here's one I shot last weekend.

:agree

Though, the lights are at a concert for a reason, for the effect, and if you can get the natural shot right, it can look pretty cool. The expression on the face is a huge part of the shot, and maybe it could be used in a crop. (?). The right hand has a deformed look to it, but not much you can do about that. You just seem to have caught it at an awkward angle. I wonder what he is thinking about right at the moment of the shot?
