I was shooting the bird of paradise and right in the middle of it this humming bird came in for a dip, luckily I had my camera on multiple so I just held the shutter down, I got off 4 or 5 shots before he took off. this is the best one.
Any suggestions about cropping?

Hi and welcome to DGrin.
I would suggest a much tighter crop on this picture. I had to really look for the hummingbird.

Thanks for the welcoming Heidi, how tight would you crop? I want to keep as much of the flower as possible I don't want to lose the counterpoint between the two "birds" but I've heard the same thing from some of my friends...

ps. I like the vertical format, but if you have any ideas about aspect ratio...

That is a good shot there.
But I have a quibble with "The luckiest shot I'll ever get" part. The luckiest (or best shot) is the one that you haven't yet taken.
Just keep pressing that shutter button, and carry a camera everywhere.

I was thinking a little less; although, if it would have been sharper, the web on the flower is a nice effect.
This is how I would have cropped it.

This is a good crop for this photo. Nice.
