Is there a way to set up my gallerys where a customer or visitors can pay a fee to open a galley?

I'm very disappointed and depressed over how cheap people are in not buying my work when promised too and only look.

So to look it will still cost them or I'll just shut them down because of the lack of purchasing any of my work.
Thanks

Hi Flash, for the record, I don't think this is a good idea :)

Your work and prices have to be compelling for them to purchase. Pay to see? I doubt even one person would ever do it...

Sorry to be blunt - but I have to call it like I see it.

So I should let them look for free? what about a new movie at the theater, they go.
I don't know what else to do short of cutting them off completely and making them contact me for access.
I know someone here will have a brilliant answer.
I put this in my header now;
Also because of the many non purchasing viewers, some gallery's are now password accessed only with a one day pass, purchased using Paypal at $6. sent to; precision-photo@msn.com
Thank You!

Yes, people go to the movies, but they don't have to pay $6 to see the trailers.

I would not pay any money to just see the pictures I might want to buy. The tone of that message would put me off even more.

I would recommend you leave the galleries open, but put a watermark on them so people can't steal and print them. Make it obtrusive enough so that it won't make a good print, while still allowing people to see the quality of your work.

Seeing the pictures would be the movie my friend with these cheapo's :huh

I put a solid 200+ hours into the 11 galleries for this school with less then a $100 of sales.

That's the equivalent of sitting in of my computer as a 40 hour week times 5 :noob

Plus I did a player of the week 12x18 give away with NOT one thank you :nono

They are all watermarked and right click protected and get complaints from them about the watermark.

That's as insulting as telling any great artist to not sign there work and there comments only showed me how ungrateful there are and don't deserve to see anymore of those galleries again and is the only way to gain back control and gain my dignity back.

As far as I'm concerned they can get there little sister on the side line to take the rest of the season with a Instamatic over using my 40K worth of professional gear with impeccable quality any day.

I think they'll get the message and I'm not going to be subjected to the abuse again without a written contract or money up front.
It's sad life if mostly based on the all mighty dollar.

But again there may be someone here that might have a brilliant compromise.

Hi Flash,
I'm not an event photog like many on this list so maybe I don't understand your particular way of working :0( Whatever, you are obviously very upset about the way you have been treated and want to vent your feelings.
In your situation I would be pretty p...... off too, all that work, time and investment for nothing. But its done, put it behind you, learn from the experience and move on. Don't direct your annoyance to your clients, that won't get you any sales just a bad reputation. Generally people do business with people they like, if they don't like someone, no matter how much they want a product they will look elsewhere to buy it, so don't give them cause to dislike you.

Andy's wise words are such good advice and should be the code by which we all operate, we may still not get sales but at least we know we've done it right:D

Flash, as far as your dignity is concerned, don't let them see how upset and angry you are about all this - smile, smile, smile - no matter how angry you are.

How about going back to basics, taking this problem to the 'mind you own business' forum, get some advice from the people over there :)
Let them take a look at your site and pics and offer some advice.

OK, I'm a Brit, I'm female and I don't shoot events but I've been around a while and sold my work for years, the internet still doesn't work best for me, its personal contact :scratch

Caroline your words give me comfort and remind me of my ex wife that said the same thing about letting go of the passed and learn from it and move on.

Yes reputation and being liked are very important and I can be the best oarsman in the boat but if I rock it, no one wants me in it.

Thanks for the great advice. :thumb
