...from our trip to the Upper Mississippi River Valley.

Lots of shots to review! Here is one of an immature Bald Eagle. Lighting was horrendous...but it was the best pose I was able to capture.

Since you are a cheesehead :rofl, I'll take the time to tell you about Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge. It's everything a wildlife photog could ask for in the way of diversity. Stands of pine and hardwoods, prairies, marshlands (on a grand scale), rivers, open water, you name it! Miles and miles of roadway to shoot from the car, dikes that go out into the marshlands and open waters, woods type hiking, prairie trails, well you get the idea. Google it!

Just north of Onalaska on the portion of the Mississippi that runs east/west.

Hi Ric.. Nice detail in the head and eyes even with the lighting problems. I know the problem.. been there quite a few times this monsoon season down here, but that seems to be over and we are back to brilliant blue skies and lots of sun.

The park sounds great, I'll have to keep it bookmarked for the future.

That sort of lighting is the bane of my existence. However, your shot is very good with nice details and sharp, in focus face.

Nice one Ric - you got good detail in spite of the difficult light :thumb

Thanks, Chris.:D

I plan on returning in a few weeks...now that I have a feel for where to go and when to go. It's only 270 miles for me...so even a 3 day thing is doable.

You did a pretty good job with some miserable lighting. I think the birds know they are to bugging us by getting backlit.
