Was down at the Preston docklands area in the wild grass verges and found this fantastic spider.
If you don't like them, tough! Cos theres four pics of him (or her!) Last one is cropped.

Very nice series.
Any idea what species spider it is?

After research, it is turns out to be the "Araneus quadratus" an Orb spider. It spins a large orb web in gaps between vegetation, found all across England.

Apparantly this species' abdomen can be various colours.

Wow Paul what a lucky find, it almost looks like its carry a red mushroom on it's back :huh
I've never seen one that is Red like this one.
