Actually any printer at this point!

Keep getting "New Hardware Found" when I plug into the USB.

Prompts me to install from original Canon disk.....when I try this it say it won't install cuz it's not Windows XP verified.
Even a driver straight from Canon's website does the same thing!!
Seems like the computer cannot find the dang thing and obviously it knows it's there when it says "New Hardware Found"
It's causing me to say bad things!! :bash

I'm using XP Home Edition.

Ideas? :scratch :dunno

just click "Continue Anyway" and you'll be fine.

Pretty much... it it's not made by Micro$oft, you'll get that message.

Let me know what happens,

Steven

I didn't see them yesterday but they are there today.
On pretty muc all of my scanners and printers the software needed to be installed befor hooking up the hardware. I don't know about your printer though.

1st off I wanna say THANX for the help Guys!!
I hope to get this figured out if it kills me! :scratch :D

Ok I did what ya said Steven.....getting closer.....starts to print but not communicating with printer.
Which tells me I don't have the right port set.
Being USB I'm not sure on this....I do have a place for the IEEE which I THINK is LPT1.
Question is what's it looking for as a port being USB only?

*** I must have SOMETHING toggled wrong? No matter what I put in USB wants to install something. Even a Flash Drive!! ***

My latest screen grabs of where I'm at so far.

Question is what port....here is what I have...

By jove I think I got it!!:barb :clap

It had to do with that Digital Signature "BS" MS has. :splat
After MUCH searching and a ton of questions I believe it to be solved.

Control Panel\Performance and maintenance\system\hardware(tab)\driver signing(button)
Dropped it from "Warn" to "Ignore"

What a PITA!! :rolleyes

I have the MP160, and the installer doesnt start up, but whenever I turn on the printer, all my photo importers start up, due to the card reader. I have found the best way to use this printer is to simply leave it on all the time. For some reason, when the PC starts, it just connects to the printer without fuss. If I start the printer after the PC....it trys to "help" too much.
