Took these today as we had some bright sun streaming in through the windows. Of the first two tulip shots, which do you prefer? How's the composition on the third?

Tristan,
These are Great!:clap :clap Love to see the detail in the pollen on the leaves.

Awesome :thumb
Of the first two, I pick #1. The direction of the petals is more interesting. I like the angle - seeing the stamen (called a stamen, right?) upright gives it a spacious feel. Like the flower has a lot of volume. The pollen on the leaves add character.
The third didn't appeal to me. I felt that the background dictates too much and takes away from your focal point. And finally, the striped tulip is absolutely gorgeous.

I prefer the first. I like seeing the fullness of the stamen (?) that you don't get in the second.
I would like the composition better on the second if the DOF was increased and the background was more blurred together.
Overall, nice shots.

Thanks everyone. No special horticultural skills here - they were purchased for my wife's birthday last week. Sometimes I really wish the F717 had a smaller aperture than F/8 so I could get everything in focus while in macro mode.
Here's a couple more from this morning:
