Well, issuing a challenge at 4pm ET on a Saturday isn't exactly giving folks much time to react. I've been out shooting all day, but it doesn't look like the color red was in any of the plants, people or objects I shot.

This is the only thing I shot that was red today unless you count the tail light on the bike in one shot. I went riding all day.

I really like the idea of an assignment or theme for a challange each week. It can motivate us to go out and look around. I think it should be posted on maybe thursday or friday though. I'm sure everyone here is busy and may not be able to just drop everything and go looking for red.

Nice crop Sid, hail to the crop. Regarding your green nose.. Allegra works, take one at night but beware, continuous use tends to make one dopey..at least thats what my husband said happend to me..so I sniff and sneeze all morning but babble on a lot.

I'm afraid I wouldn't know an Azalea from the green gunk in my nose. :dunno Do allergies make you fart more? :scratch Claritin it is. Azaleas are woody shrubs in the rhododendron family and do very very well in the South. They love acidic soil and humidity. Out here, they grow as shrubs, usually not more than 3-4 feet tall. In the town square in the center of Savannah, all of the hedges are azaleas, and they're all 5-6' tall. Amazingly beautiful and hardy plants that bloom in the winter/spring. They should have a bunch of them at the Botanical Gardens and also at the Atlanta History Center (Swan House / Tully-Smith House). Hell, I'll bet you can find them in your neighborhood.

I was going to link to a photo of one of mine, but smuggy seems to be a little constipated right now. So here's an attached version.

Check here (http://www.homescapes.org/101/bushes/bushesfloweringshrubs.htm) for some quick ID of Atlanta's flowering bushes.

Here's your photo assignment for this weekend: Red.

Photos must be fresh - taken this weekend, not stuff you've got hanging around on your computer.
Red means anything that contains the color red in it.
Have at it.I know this is no longer the weekend and I know this is not red but if your #*%@ computer had the blue screen of death yet again you'd have nothing to show and be late too....
so here are some sagging lovely flowers son sent me for birthday.. also sent me a ticket to fly on Thursday how cool is that. So I should return with not only Seattle pics but SOME NEW #*%@ HARDWARE FOR MY COMPUTER WHICH BLUE SCREENS NOW AT EVERY BOOT!!!
Sorry... it's been a bind AGAIN recovering all my data.:cry
Have fun without me... don't be mean to each other and play nice til I get back.

Well, I didn't shoot anything for the assignment over the weekend, but here is a crappy picture of the PCB I've been working with (it just happens to be red).

Great idea to have the weekend theme photo challenge.

Attached is my entry. This is my dog and girlfriend walking in the water at sunset. The picture was taken a few miles from our apartment near Cliff House in San Francisco. I see a little red in this shot :)

Any comments, suggestions are welcome.

Dave
Wow. I like the lighting.

and the shot is really in focus. i do apply usm to every image, because i leave the in-camera settings for sharpness set to lowest setting (rather do it myself in ps). this shot got a bit of usm - settings: 100/.4/0

thanks for the kind words!

The shoot was actually this real dumbass director. Guy had no clue what he was doing. My girlfriend was working on the set, so I made my way down there to snap some photos. Just some other students at my school trying to make movies. Camera/tripod can be checked out from school for free, that is if you have the 130 bucks to drop on a ten minute mag of film. My shoots coming up here in 12 days, then its the end of film school for me. Wish me luck!

Off to start a new thread of some of yesterdays photos.
