Okay, I did it. I purchased my Canon EOS 20D with the so-so 17-85mm f4-5.6 IS USM lens. I set up my smugmug pro site (still working on the cobranding - www.mikelanephotography.com) and I even got a potential paying shooting gig this weekend (sailboat regatta - nice!). What's more, I found an awesome camera shop that does rentals of just about anything and I secured myself a Canon 35-350mm f3.5-5.6L lens (which I read is mediocre but they were out of the 70-200mm f2.8L lenses, and in any case will be better than my lens) for $25 (!) for the whole weekend. So now the question is what kind of lenses do I need to consider for various photo shoots?
Here are the situations that I'm considering...
Landscapes (lots of mountains around here you know)
City scenes (to include fun neon shots, interesting people shots, and political state of life shots)
Weddings (because who knows?)
commissioned portraits
still life
and anything else that I haven't thought of
Remember, cost isn't an issue since I can rent just about any lens and I can also rent the lighting and any of the other gear that I may need for cheap cheap. So what do you think?
