As I have already mentioned (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=68540), last Saturday I had a chance to visit Big Bear Renaissance Fair (http://www.bigbearcityrenaissancefaire.com).
This year it was held on the premises of the Pederson Mill, in Fawnskin (http://local.live.com/?v=2&sp=Point.pqbmy757mt5n_Renaissance%20Fair%202007___&encType=1).
Me, my daughter Helen and my friend Kirill spent about 4 hours there, from 10am to 2pm.
Needless to say I took a few pictures. Below are the excerpts (from ~1,600 total:-)

These are really nice, particularly because it looks as though the light was really harsh. It's funny that I've never seen a joust in real life considering how many renfaires I get dragged to, so thank you for posting these action shots!

Thanks, Steph! :thumb That was my first time ever shooting full-contact jousting, too, it was fun. The harsh light (noon!) was a definite problem I had to deal with. :dunno

I really like the sword fight shot... too bad the guys eyes are closed! He must be swingin' and prayin'. The colors are great even in the harsh light... did you try B&W on any?

Thanks, Chris!

No, I didn't try B/W. The show is so colorful, it would be a shame to lose it. Besides, I don't think B/W was invented at the time, so it really does not add to the period feeling :wink
