Well, I've been offline for a few weeks. My family and I travelled to South Central Colorado for a small vacation with our Church. We were staying in the Hermitt Basin area, which is a few hours west of Pueblo. I made a promise to myself that I would take it easy photography wise on this trip, as I was pretty burned out from my Montana trip. I did, however, have to get out and shoot the wonderful storms that kept forming in the evenings. Here are a few of the better shots:

Cool shots as always, James. :thumb

You mentioned a couple weeks back that you are using a lightning trigger. Could you tell us a little more about using those devices? Upsides / Limitations, etc.

You've done it again! Wow, perfect landscapes with dramatic lightning shows. Your family is very lucky if they travel with you -- I think you invoke picturesque, perfect weather situations. :D

Hi David. I'm sorry for being so late in replying. Been a busy last couple of weeks coming back from vacation. :D

I don't actually use a lightning trigger. I have seen others who use them, and they seem to work well. However, they are kind of expensive. I actually use a Canon Intervalometer Remote Control: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/164271-REG/Canon_2477A002_Timer_Remote_Controller_TC_80N3.htm l

This remote allows me to take shots repeatedly, with very little delay between them. I find a storm that is moving in a certain direction, and then try to find something interesting to put in the foreground. I then shoot away till my memory stick is full. :rofl

My new 30D actually has a cool drive mode for rapid shooting. With this mode, a normal remote could trigger there camera repeadly just by locking the shutter button down.

Thanks for the comments!

Thanks schmoo! Ha ha. My wife's not too interested in going out into the late night to take lightning pictures. :D She's just interested in knowing that I made it back safely. :thumb
