Thank you, the first shot is one of my favorite bird shots I think I've taken, if not he best. For 100% natural lighting, the elements came together nicely I thought, and it's a beautiful bird I think! Be nice if that limb wasn't sticking up into the feathers on lower part of body, but you take what you can get. :-)

Amazing detail in the heron shots, but I enjoyed them all.:thumb

Thanks Shasoc, check the detail on the original...

he's here with a few other animal pics.

This copy of the 200-400VR is really quite an excellent performer. I was THRILLED with the Heron pics myself.

Nice captures. The muscle flexing chimp is funny and of course nice heron shots!

Thanks folks for the nice comments.

You know, I shot an entire series rapid fire action of the chimp coming from the rock wall up to another area where he laid back down, trying to dodge the heat. It's definitely a nice series from my review so far. If there's interest, perhaps I could post the entire series, maybe 15 or 20 shots of the chimp. It would be one of those card sets where you flip the cards fast, and it would be like video. :-)

What's really nice at the zoo, is when you come away with a capture that appears it could be in the wild, showing no real signs of captivity. Each of these shots i've tried to show with that perspective. It's not always possible, nor easy, but it's the challenge of captivity shooting.

xxclixxx, so sorry to hear of the bald eagle. Of the creatures I've seen in captivity, this is one of the saddest to see. He needs to be soaring, wild, untamed.
