Had to bring my s-son to the dentist today, so instead of waiting, I took a drive furthur up the road to a local cemetary.

It had this statues in the middle, and I wanted to experiment with angle and such.

Any comments and feedback appreciated. :)

I personally would try some burning of the clouds to create some drama in the sky:wink .
Good location and I would visit often taking more shots with some different skies behind it .

Thanks for sharing:D

Thank you Shakey! I'm not done yet... My computer is spazzin' out on me! :huh

How do you burn the sky? I do have a fair knowledge of PSP7, so if you could just direct me...

On your tool bar on the right hand side just above the T for text
is the dodge and burn tool . Give it a try. It's fun:):

There are a few statues I wanna photograph here in the neighboring city.
Some of the Catholic Churches have em here.

Ahhhhhhh when the weather gets better....sooooo many things to take pics of!

Cosmic I know it's lent but really!!!! LOL, just kidding. Wonderful shots. I'm also interested to hear what burning the clouds means.

Burn tool darkens
Dodge lightens
I hope this answers your question?

Yes, I see what you mean and it is impressive. I can't wait to figure out how to apply effects only to portions of my images (rather than the entire image).

Click here (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=2478) for the Cletus method. It's even better than Dodging and Burning - more control because it's on a layer. You can easily remove it from spots if you want. And it doesn't change the base photo. :thumb

Nice shots,Cosmic - I really like #1 and #4.

Thank you wxw! I was reading Cletus' post and I'm definitly going to give that a try! :D

I'm wondering though, that it does add a nice effect to a b/w, but I'm wondering about a colour photo.

It should. But the best way to get raise the contrast and lower the exposure is to either make 2 RAW exposures (if you shoot in RAW) or to play with a Curves layer.

With RAW, make one exposure for the sky (a darker exposure) and a second exposure for everything else, then combine them, using a mask.

Curves are trickier, I'm in my infancy learning them. But the concept of Layers and Masks still apply - make your adjustments, then erase the parts where you don't want them to be seen.

Cletus is one of our resident experts on Photoshopping techniques. If you want to explore this further, you might consider posting a thread in the Photoshop Shenanigans forum, he's more likely to see it and respond down there, I reckon.
