A Rose

I took this picture a while ago. Some of you may have already seen it, but I wanted to share it anyway.

Let me know what you think, and also, how can this improve? Any post work I could do?

LiquidOps... one thing that stands out for me is how closely the bottom half of the rose is cropped to the sides edges of the frame. I would have widened the space a bit. Also, that little mass of green half way down on the left might be a bit distracting; it doesn't do much to enhance the shot, and it can easily be cloned out. The texture is fine, and the droplets are effective.

Now if you look at the large droplet near the top of the flower, and then to the left of that, you'll see a dark spot which could also be repaired, as I would regard it as a slight defect in an otherwise perfect rose. I suspect you'll have to be careful, as it's wedged between those two veins.

The lighting and the background are basically fine; mainly I think you need to give that flower a bit more breathing room!

Thank you for your honesty. I have shared this picture before and never once was made aware of things like this. I thank you for pointing them out. I am not able to reshoot this one as of yet... maybe one day soon, but for the time being, I think I will play with some PS and see what I can do.

Hey, no need to reshoot! You've got the basis for an excellent photo if you don't mind spending some time with photoshop. Just start with a larger canvas (I'm partial to black) and clone (or whatever) in the rose (like really carefully). Then crop appropriately, fix up those minor issues and there you go!
