Hi bfjr...

I think the background in your shots is really quite predominant...you've got the vertical shadows, and those from the flowers themselves. This may cause the viewer to lose focus of what you want to portray here, as it does appear a bit busy. I guess of the three, I would have to choose the bottom shot as it has the most contrast, but if you are purposely trying to minimize contrast between the subject and background, then maybe the first shot. If it were me, I'd probably want to reshoot, and I might try some black foam core board as a background. Also, it seems the texture of the flowers is a bit washed out...you may want to adjust the exposure a bit?

My take on the image includes cropping to limit the shadows on the background by framing them with the image's corners via diagonals.

Many thanks for your replies, I really like the crop. However the jury is still out on these. The idea of a reshoot is the best idea yet ( most fun too :):), except I have to go back to a cemetary, makes me feel kinda wierd. It's very peaceful there, but the residents keep shouting for attenton, wierd HUH !! :scratch:scratch:dunno

The first shot has warm tones and gives it a classic, serene, homely feel. So I'd prefer the beige rather than the blues tones. As someone pointed out, the background dominates. If you could instead set something up with a light brown or earth tone that'd increase the contrast.
