Gallery templates

I like the idea of the gallery templates. Two questions:

1) how do I remove a gallery template name from my list of templates?

2) how do I modify a template? I thought that simply customizing a gallery, then putting an existing name in the bottom, then clicking update would do it, but it doesn't appear to do so.

Well.....erem.....we thought it better to create the ability to have templates and get them out there than to wait until we also had the ability to delete them. :uhoh
