(I hope this is ok to post this, seeing as it is not a digital camera....If not, please delete)
I just bought a Canon Rebel II with a 35-80mm zoom lens off ebay for $100. It also comes with a flash, neck strap and a camera bag. What do you think of this camera? Has anyone ever had one? It will take me just a bit longer to get that 20D now, but I can live with that. Here is the auction with pictures. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=15235&item=3876162845&rd=1

Way to go, Red. If you learn to shoot film on Manual, it will greatly help your digital photography when you finally get that 20D. If the Rebel's in the condition he claims, I'd say you have yourself an excellent camera. And a wonderful learning tool.

Film SLR? Guess I can leave the Leica M rangefinder at home! And what about an 8x10 camera, are those available in SLR yet? :D

Excellent choice!! :clap
It's the glass that matters most ya know :wink but I say hit the road with some sweet n warm Velvia slide film for those days that are heavily overcast, yet have patches that bathe magnificently in the sun! Oh and, buy yourself a 20D as backup :lol
Congrats on the purchase RB!!! :thumb

Well, unfortunately the camera was broken. The main mode dial was not working. It was like the camera was always on automatic mode. The main mode dial didn't turn all the way either. It wouldn't fully go to sports mode. I read somewhere that there are sometimes problems with these dials.
We contacted the guy and he said to send everything back and he will give us a full refund. It's really unfortunate since the camera, lens, speedlite and bag were in really nice condition.http://dgrin.com/images/smilies/bncry.gif
Here are some pictures of the camera that I took before I found out the camera was broken. http://redbull.smugmug.com/gallery/213761/9

Actually, 16 in two weeks.http://dgrin.com/images/smilies/yelrotflmao.gif The reason I have that picture is because I won a can of spam somewhere. Odd, I know.http://dgrin.com/images/smilies/ne_nau.gif
But anyway, my dad just picked up a really nice Pentax K1000 with a 50mm f/2 lens. I will still be getting another Canon film camera. THe K100 is just to have for fun.http://dgrin.com/images/smilies/icon10.gif

I looked. I saw lighters, mountain dew and burning straws. All pretty good
exposures :huh
Good luck with the film camera!

Great news. The guy recieved the camera and emailed us. He said we were right, the camra was broken and he took it to a place to get it repared. He mailed the camera back out and I should be recieving it soon. It's really cool that the guy made the effort to repair it and send it back to us. It was really a nice camera with very nice accessories. I'll update again once I recieve it.

Update! The guy sent the camera back since he said he had it fixed. I recieved it today and it works great! The problem before was with the mode dial. Something wasn't working there. I'm really glad to have the camera back and to have it working properly! I now have the camera, lens, bag and flash back again which are all in really good condition!http://dgrin.com/images/smilies/clap.gif
