GPS Sony & NIKON format NEF(Category:System Accessories)
I bought the Sony GPS tracker to use it with my Nikon. Everything is working, except the insertion of the GPS info into the photo metadata. The Sony software only works with JPG, not with NEF, nor DNG! Anyone an idea how to put the GPS info into a NEF or DNG metadatafile? I use those two formats to organise the originals of my photo's, so I don't want to work with jpg. Txs for advice

Using any camera less than the D200 you will need software like World Wide Media Exchange (http://wwmx.org/) or similar......this is PC based {the link is too the home page and there doesn't seem to be any updates since April 2006 but I have it working on my Win XP system....do not know if it will work on any Vista system} and seems to work very good as long as clocks are synced properly...other wise I waould say sell the Sony move over to Garmin or Magellan{ thses are the 2 brands Nikon recommends and upgrade the D70 to a D200 and cable the 2 together so the info is embedded in camera exactly when the photo is taken.......hope this helps

But selling and buying is not an option.
The system is managing the info from the tracker to the JPG-files perfectly (and very accurate).
It means that my workflow will need two more steps:
transforming the NEF tot JPG, inserting the GPS-info in the jpg-files, and stripping the metadat from JPG back to the NEF/DNG again.
So i am stuck now with the last part of the workflow. Hopefully there is a software capable of doing the transfer JPG -> DNG.
