I broke down and bought Sigma 105mm Macro it arrived last Monday and I took a few shots, then had an out of town USAF ceremony to attend. When I got back I ventured out again with the Sigma and got some shots. Nothing great, but it's my first Macro lens, and I hope to get better with practice. Just thought I'd share what I came up with.
All shots are manual focus, hand held, no flash.

This was one of the first shots I took last week with the new lens... I was not only trying to shoot with a brand new macro lens but fighting an intense bought of nausea.

Thanks... I didn't realize how different shooting with a macro lens would be. I've wanted one since I started shooting SLR last Sept.

Hi Christina, so you got yourself a Macro lens ....whooohooo :clap
Focusing is crucial when shooting Macro, and not easy to do.
When shooting bugs it is important to get the eyes in focus.
The more you practice the better you will get at it Christina,
I am yet to find someone who gets worse :D
You've captured a beautiful star in the water droplet on the leaf :thumb
Check out the Tutorial on Focussing here on "Othe Cool Shots"
and have a look at the other very very informative tutorials there as well.

good first tries.
And, wow, there are days when I feel like me+macro are just sucking wind. Then there are several very good days. Keep it up and post more!
