I took this shot about 2 weeks ago at a wedding.
The bride went nuts over it. Very chiche, but it was a hit.
This is the first time I tried a shot like this, so I know it's not perfected. This sparked a bunch of ideas for the next wedding I shoot though.
Just position your models however you want. Get your speedlight right under the bride ring finger hand (making sure it stays a little bit out as to not cast shadows on faces). It would look much more realistic if I took off the gel and had someone holding the light closer to the hand.
Looks just like they are getting a high dose of tip top diamond light!

Thanks for looking.

I lol'd at this. Seriously! I don't know if it's really cliched or not as I've never seen anything quite like it before, but I think it's a quirky, wonderful idea.

great idea for a shot. What are you using so that you don't have to have the speedlight ontop of the camera?

PW's (http://www.pocketwizard.com/) attached to the speedlight.
You can use PC cables or a hotshoe to PC cable if your camera doesn't have a PC out.

I've learned the hard way by blowing out shots in the past. I had both my speedlight and camera set to manual. Dialed exposure in on an accommodating cyclist before the wedding party showed up. Then just hammered on the shutter. I only chimped 2 times during the 100+ shots at this point of the wedding.
Thanks to everyone else for the comments.
