Cool shot. You should title this, "The Look of Determination."

I call it "Concentration". The bird was very, very slowly moving its left leg for another step, when it struck and caught a small fish off to its left outside the frame - not where it was looking in this shot.

Harry,
The GBH in TX are WILD BIRDS and not those "tame" dudes you got over there in Florida. Besides that, we got kids running around and scaring everything - no geriatric retirement communities here with slow moving folks....:D :rofl :barb

Cool shot. It looks like it's after your lunch. 30 feet is great. I'm lucky to get within 300 feet around here.

Thanks everyone. Down in Houston it is very unusual to get so close. Normally the bird's comfort-zone is about 100 feet, and at one site I visited, it seemed to be 100 yards. Just to correce a misrepresentation (by omission), it is only the first shot of the 3 that is 30 feet. #2 was about 60 feet, 400mm and #3 was same distance, but 400mm+TC17

Nice shots in your gallery Walt. I thought the quote of mine you posted would have gotten a "rise" out of Harry, I guess he hasn't seen it yet...
Glad you liked my shots - thanks.
