Hello Ya'll, I am new here...well I used to have an account several years back and now I have come home again:noob Thanks to Barb I got this far www.earlstokes.smugmug.com (http://www.earlstokes.smugmug.com) but here is where my problems are for now... (1) In my header where it state about me. clients. contact me etc.... How do I put information in there? (2) Is there a way to have my slide show on my main page without having it show in my galleries? (3) can I show the gift items and photo sizes and all the cool stuff with my prices and not smugmugs? (4) the footer on the bottom leads customers to smugmugs site and I dont think this looks to professional and allows with little effort for my clients to see what prices I am paying which is not good! So can I remove it/disable it or atleast make it tiny all grey and move it way way down on the page so its not easy for my clients to see it. I understand marketing but at my expense?:patch :confused Again Thanks for the help and I want to make this my main website but I just need to get it clean and functioning
:beer
P.S. I love these lil smiling face thingamagigis:barb :ivar

Welcome to Dgrin :wave
Smugmug requires at least showing the mini-footer but you can remove the
cart and login from it ... and it has to be visible.:D
In your control panel > customize, check no as shown below.
show smugmug footer
x no __ above my custom footer __ below my custom footer
The prices and stuff will not show then. Most create their own html page
for the prices and stuff. I took the easy way out and use a jpg here (http://atsmith.smugmug.com/gallery/2675457). If you
use Smug's page the full footer shows, but on your own pages only your
mini-footer. Here's another (http://www.brandolinoimaging.com/gallery/2175653) fine example of a product page by Brando using
html enter into the gallery description.
You have the slideshow javascript added ok but need the footer code.
Go to this tutor (http://dgrin.smugmug.com/gallery/2160039) and see The Slideshow II section and add that to
your footer. Be sure to change below to your slideshow gallery.
slideshowUrl = "http://earlstokes.smugmug.com/gallery/3124231";
Then add the CSS in "The Slideshow III" section.
The only thing left is enabling your bio. In your control panel you'll see
your bio. Add some text like "my site", really anything, and click display in
the upper right corner.
The slideshow should run then only on the homepage.
Another thing you're missing is the rest of the galleries (duplicate
homepage) hack. From "The Galleries Page II" section of the tutor add
that code to your footer code just above the slideshow code.
<*script*>
if (hasPath("galleries"))
YD.addClass(document.body, "galleries");
<*/script*>
This without the red *'s.
You mention "(1) In my header where it state about.... ". Is that the navbar
you're referring too?
Here's a head start on filling out your navbar. I put in the shortcut links.
examples:
/ << direct link to homepage
/galleries << direct link to galleries page
/gallery/xxxxxxxx << direct link to a gallery
/Portfolio << direct link to a category
/Portfolio/345914 << direct link to a sub-category page
header html code
------------------------
<div id="navcontainer">
<ul>
<li><a href="/">Home</a></li>
<li><a href="/gallery/xxxxxxxxx">About Me</a></li>
<li><a href="/galleries">Galleries</a></li>
<li><a href="/gallery/xxxxxxxxx">Prices</a></li>
<li><a href="/Portfolio">Clients</a></li>
<li><a href="/gallery/xxxxxxxxx">Contact Me</a></li>
</ul>
</div>
xxxxxxxxx will be the gallery number.
Whew, did I get it all? :ear

Ummmmmm What?:scratch Sorry I am an IDIOT here and trying to figure all this out.
OK So I cant remove or hide SmugMugs advertising...:nah Got It!
You said "I took the easy way out and use a jpg here (http://atsmith.smugmug.com/gallery/2675457)." Is that information i.e: layout images etc...free for me to use? and how could I copy it, and paste it where to make it work?
I like the idea customers can see all the stuff to order if they cant see what I pay for it...
Sorry to be a pest but I am out of my leauge here and feel like a fry cook trying to build a rocket.:dunno
Is there a fee for service that can do this stuff?:whew

You're welcome to use the image (http://atsmith.smugmug.com/photos/144673108-O.jpg), it's one that Andy posted some time ago.
Click "the image" on first line and save it, then upload to your site in the
same private gallery as your banner. Then create a new gallery, set it to
journal style and in the gallery description add this below. xxxxxxxx is the
photo number.
<html>

The secret is concentrating on one thing at a time. You had a lot of
questions and trying to do it all at once can be overwhelming. You'll get
lots of help here, but ya gotta be patience as we try to understand what
you want. Get that product gallery created and we'll help format and clean
up the page. Oh, and post a link if it's a private gallery.
