Sooooooo nicely stacked :thumb
I have no idea, but someone told me they are often used to mark trails,
but I'm not sure if thats the only reason they stack them.

That lot are stacked so neatly too, in size order too.
Excellent shot SirArmstrong :clap .... Skippy

Nice photos steve. I don't know what it means but here girls and young kids play a game in which they hit the stacking with ball and other team has to complete it while they hit each other with that ball :scratch:rolleyes:huh
Once i played it and failed to choose right ball for hitting purpose i chose cricket hardball and never played it again :rolleyes

The structures you've posted look like cairns (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cairn) . They've been used for ages to mark various spots for various purposes but most often now they're used to mark a trail of some sort.
