That people abandon their dogs and other animals is no secret anymore and also on Aruba, many thousands of dogs
running around without owner. We have a industrial area at sea side where workers throw some bread for the dogs
and also people leaving rests of their romantic seaside dinner behind for the dogs. The following two pictures show
you two beautiful dogs who are reasonable fed but without owner.

Not all dogs survive the hardness of the daily sun and the fierce competition to get to the food:

Well dear members / visitors of this forum: If your pet gets in your way, give it to someone who can take care of it.

We, as humans, should be ashamed that this can happen. :cry

It is horrible that we humans can just throw away living creatures. I sometimes wonder about us, as a species, sometimes and question a lot that makes us supposedly the most intelligent creatures. I took a look at your third picture. I think it is an important one to see. That one dog had a collar it looks like and was just thrown away like trash it would seem. Horrible, just horrible. We need to do more to help ourselves, the Earth and all the creatures of the Earth. No one species is better than the other.

Dick --- Is there any way to get a photo essay to the target audience on Aruba? I have worked on environmental awareness projects in various places outside the U.S., and they can work very well, especially by starting in the schools with materials the kids can take home to show their parents.

By the way, in my 16 years of living in the tropical Americas, this dog in photo #2 seems to be the most common type found in these warm, humid environments: reddish hair, lean, long-legged, large erect ears, and pointed nose. Sizes vary from about 25 to 50 pounds. In my experience, they are also very smart, quick to learn, and quick to make allegiances to their providers. They are very agile, good climbers, and can sneak into you place and take your food without your being aware that it's happening.

Thanks Stephen.

I think it is important that we awaken people's awareness and keep them awake.

Thanks for looking and commenting John.

Yes, on regular basis I put an article in the local newspapers about this subject and get positive responses out of it.

Also I like to show (free of charge) my local nature pics around in basis schools (1st to 2th grade) to make them understand to preserve what we have.

I do, as far as possible, my part to "save the world".

Dick.
