I'm looking for a cover to fit my 5D w/50 1/4 attached. That's all. I started to go out today and shoot with my new 5D and realized that I could either take it out naked (strapped to my motorcycle) or carry one of my tamrac cases just to house the camera.
Does anyone know of a manufacturer who makes a cover that fits the fD w/lens attached? I'm thinking of a heavy leather type cover that fits the body and has a lens cover attached that snaps into place when you are not shooting. Does this make sense?

Canon doesn't have a molded or hugger case for that model......in days of YORE all the camera companies had their own cases for each body pretty much.......are those days all gone now????
Take a look to LowePro and Tamrac surely one of those have a neopreme case.....I use the LowePro 75aw for my KM7D's with 24-70 and 70-22, case on a military pistol belt when out on the bike (Suzuki gs850)....actually I use these 2 cases 99.999% of the time unless the work calls for the LowePro backpack to come out........Check out Camera Armor also thye may have what you want.........

Yeah, I miss those molded covers. That is exactly what I'm looking for. I like your idea with the ammo belt though. I'll check out the LOwePro units.
Thanks.

I really like the Zing neoprene covers. They are very easy to use, and because they are one piece, they go on and off very quickly. The neoprene adds good coushioning. They make larger ones for your 5D (standard I think will do), as well as additional models for zoom lenses attached. I use mine whenever I go out with my camera and single lens, traveling ultra light. I also use it for just tossing my camera in my briefcase, for when I want to take the 'good' camera, but not my camera gear, (esp on a business trip). Highly recommended.
I do not recommend the Op-Tec versions. They are two piece models, and have various snaps and whatnot to secure them to the camera, and are very clumsy. The Zing are very simple: camera in cover, and the cover wraps over and you put the covered lens thru the open hole.

I really like the Zing neoprene covers....
Thanks for the tip. I've seen these advertised but appreciate the short review. This will probably be what I end up with.

I'm a fan of the lowepro. It adds a bit of padding which, depending on where
you keep the camera, offers a bit more padding. Plus a pocket for extra
memory or the charger if you need it.
