This was a local Derby between my team Sheffield Eagles (red shirts)and my photographer friends team Doncaster Lakers, the weather was a bit up and down sunshine, cloud and rain, Sheffield won 32-20

As always, great shots.
Thanks for sharing them; not too many scrums to be found around here this time of year. It'll pick up in the fall though.

brings back memories of my youth... i played wing and outside center in high school and college. a rugged sport, not doubt, but in some ways less dangerous than American football. you tackle differently in rugby, and you don't have a 240-lb linebacker in armor smashing into your knees...

Thank's again that my favourite, the first time i used my 3002.8 i was a bit dissapointed but know it just keeps getting better and better and i love it, it's taken a few months though

No padding, but they did wear leather helmets. But when players started getting killed or paralyzed on the field, they upped the padding and made harder helmets.

I did recently take pictures from the rugby league in Levittown, PA, but since it was my first time shooting them, and I'm not really using a sports/fast lens, and then I got distracted by another party that was going on there, my pics aren't quite as good as this..
