First shot looks okay except that its crooked, your building is leaning heavily to the left ....... gotta watch for that :nod
It could probably use a little more contrast and probably curves too.
2nd shot I don't like the colour of, maybe you meant for it to be this colour, but it doesn't really do anything for the shot.
Not sure why you've processed the second shot the way you have :scratch
It's totally different to your first one.
Your well on the right track with the first shot :thumb .... Skippy

The second picture looks really good in pure B&W. I removed the strange color
and it immediately jumped off the screen. I have to agree with Skippy - not
really sure where you're going with that processing. :)

All I did on the second pic was take the IR shot and do a 90% desaturate

I won't rehash what the others have said. All I ant to say is that I use this action in Photo Shop to do the processing then fidle with curves as I see fit

The major thing it does is swaps the red and blue channels.
Here's a shot I used the action with:

Here are my 2 cents. Good shots, however, 1st one is tilted to the left, second one appears somewhat dark. I think both shots lack contrast and some details. I'm sure you take this as a positive feedback. Thank you for sharing :thumb

Of course I take this as positive its the only way I can learn, I have only been doing IR for 1 week, and have learned a lot. I just don't know what to do with the curves in photo shop I move them and they change the whole pic to more blue or more red. How do some people get a slightly blue sky I want to be able to get pics like the one that was added of the creek. OMG it is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

when I move the curves it just changes the whole picture to a different color. Your pic is so perfect. that is what I want to be able to do.

Looks like you are getting there.
Lots of ways to add color to IR
One is use tripod shot two shots one IR and the other normal then do some masking and Bam! you have color IR.
Look here (http://dgrin.smugmug.com/gallery/1555691)
Another way is to turn IR to grayscale image and then color just like in school...takes a little practice but lots of fun.
Also look at XDP filter might work with the 717 not real sure ??
Also check out Duotone in photoshop...Image--Mode-Dutone
You must change to grayscale first then to Dutone
Have fun

I really struggled with colored IR and then I found some great actions for Photoshop and some tutorials too.
I haven't figured how to post a pic in this post yet but if you want to check my page and see if thats what you're trying to get I will get you the actions etc.
I love IR!
