Moving mouse across the picture border causes image to blink.
Never saw that "feature" before.

I can see some long jsavascript-related text in the status bar

Gallery style: All except slideshow
OS: XP Pro SP2
Browser: (latest) IE 6.0.2xxxx

Gallery I see it first: http://nik.smugmug.com/gallery/398875/1/15907252
But this effect seems to affect all my galleries.

Don, Ben, JT?

I'm using Firefox and the javascript is still there but the picture doesn't blink!

Nick,

I see the pic border widening, no blink. On my galleries too. Is it a problem?

XP, IE 6.0.29xxxx

(The border is not actually widening, it should just be changing color)

Here is the bad part though, I can't reproduce this bug (using the same exact browser and OS). I am certain that this relates to the new right click protection we have though, so it only affects those galleries.

Can you guys tell me what you cache settings are? I have it set to automatic and give it about 500mb of space. Maybe you don't have enough or have to set to something different?

I have it on Auto, with the space limit about 1.2Gb. Currently less than 450Mb is used.

I also thought maybe Java runtime had something to do with it, so I uninstalled it (don't have a need for it anyway), but the effect still there.

From what I can see, the image disappears exactly when I cross the border (regardless of the direction or going in or out). Cursor (mouse pointer) changes shape between "hand" and "arrow", also status bar text chages from
empty/Done
to
Shortcut to javascript.openwindow("blah-blah")

Not sure if it helps.
I will check it from home later tonite if we can't figure it out during the day:-)

I am seeing the same results as NIK.

I followed his link to http://nik.smugmug.com/gallery/398875/1/15907252 and when I scroll over the edges of any pic in that gallery it blinks.

Win xp Home, IE 6.0.2 SP2, browser cache is set to auto at 1gb also.

No blink here, XP Pro SP2, IE 6.0.2, etc etc.

Weird.

I think it's just a strange side-effect you're going to have to put up with if you want your photos "protected" (note that it's terribly easy to get around this protection, IE/FF/etc make it easy for you if you know what you're doing, so it's really not that useful to enable).

No blink here either with WinXP Home SP1 with either IE 6 or Firefox.

DonThanks, Don! I normally don't do the protection (for the exact reasons you've mentioned, it's way too easy to get around), but for some reason (tired? drunk? both?:-) I accidentally checked that box when creating an album...

Anyway, now we know what was the culprit! (and I still think it's a bug:-)

Thanks everybody!:thumb

I think it's a bug too ... but it's IE's bug, not ours. Works in most IE installs, works in other browsers, but doesn't work in some obscure IE configuration?

Not our fault.
