These are great! We're up in Ashland / Bayfield, WI area ( from Texas ) and my dream is to see a loon. Love your shots - nicely done!

I really like the loonies! And green heron shots are quite good as well! That is one young buck. He still has the vellum on his horns.

Thanks guys.
I tried hard to get some loon shots with their young, but I didn't find any til the last night, and at that time, I wasn't in control of the boat.
Oh well, there's always next year.
Thanks again everyone.

I love them all. Great work. I need to get up north soon. I miss the call of the loons.
What lens did you use to get the loon pictures and how close did they let you get to them?

Thanks again guys.
For all of these shots I used a Canon 30D, with a Canon 400L f5.6 and a Kenko 1.5 TC that I bought on this board for $60.
The green heron shots are cropped a ton. The were the legs look crossed is a 100% crop when you view the original size on smugmug. (1200 x 800)
The loon shots I using about 3/4's of the original shot.
The loons were very cooperative. Some of them I got within 25 feet.
Thanks again for looking.
