I think it works well with my signature quote.

I really like it....I have to really get nit-picky to find anything to suggest improvements.
Maybe try cropping in such a way that the subject (person I guess) is on the lower third. Maybe put him slightly off center side-to-side as well.
He just seems too centered.

Nice shot.
I find myself squinting at indistinct details once my eye leaves the center of the frame. My first inclination is actually to try a square crop by taking a little off the bottom and more off the top. Beyond that, I'd dodge the large dark walls to bring out some detail.

I agree that a small strip could be cropped off the bottom to bring the subject further away from the center. The sand in the forground really does not add anything to the image. I like this shot, though, I like "ghost" shots in the canyons.
I tried sugesting bringing out more shadow detail on a canyon wall shot recently, and got flamed for it. I think it might help this shot also, LiquidAir.:thumb

Awe it wasn't that bad. Actually I was suprised more people didn't feel the same way as you. See I post here and so far people are agreeing with you- different categorie different views. :D
To each there own and I will sit back and see what others feel. If I decide to do anything different, well that is up to me. :deal I have another 40 decent shots to finish and upload so I'll have another post by end of weekend for you to weigh in on again. :wink
Thank you for taking the time though- it is always appreciated!!
I see possibly cropping the bottom up to the shadow on the rt but think think any off the top will take away from the overall 'feel' of the shot.

I would leave the sand in front but darken it. The one thing I don't like is the guy in there, it looks like he is urinating in his stance.
Nice image otherwise!:barb

It's a nice shot. I agree with others that there's too much sand in foreground. A lower angle might be better. I think the model is a good idea (without the model it's just another deep desert canyon shot), but what you have isn't quite working yet. It just looks like some tourist wandering through. If that's your thematic stance, then you have it. But I think there's a better shot than that here. Contrast: a woman in an evening gown. Evocative: a young child. Philosophical: a meditating guru. You get the idea.

Gary-
In this case it was just a tourist walking through- captured to give the feeling of how impressive the place is. What you suggest would not be possible in that particular canyon but would be in two other ones. I really like your ideas and may look into doing something like that when I return to that area.

Geeeez!!! What a great image.:clap I like the guy in the shot to give a sense of scale and the progressive light to dark is beautiful. Great exposure, I wouldn't mess with it too much. I'd agree about just a little crop from the bottom to get the guy/central light more off center - not too much, I like the flow through the shadows. I'm also tempted to suggest more radically cropping the image to focus in on the central element although that might not work. Really, this is hard to whip. Simply wonderful.:D
Edit: Would you mind saying where this is in general? I'm not that familiar with the southwest.

Thank you for the reply. Coming from you this means a lot- I love the work you do! :bow
As far as location this is Upper Antelope Canyon which is in Page Arizona famous for these canyons and Lake Powell. Closest major airport is Phoenix or Vegas both of which are about 3.5 - 4 hours away.

Aaron. Good afternoon.
I suggest a fill flash to fill in the dark areas of the picture
A person in movement as like he/she was escaping from this place. Or coming in.
May be using HSS - not to have the effect of SSS (Slow Sync Speed) - low speed like 1/30 ...
Very soft, tender, almost un-noticeable flash ! Like: Did he use flash in here ? and people say yes. And other people say: No has has not. :wink
Better crop placing the person in the "thirds".
:D
I hope to be there one day.

I love this photo, and possibly best even the latest crop, but as I've now come back to it time and time again, I can't help but wonder what that tourist is actually doing at the end of this canyon hallway. Enlarging this resized and compressed attachment, it still looks like he's......

NO he is not. This Canyon is very busy with tourists being led through the canyon on tours. I was waiting and waiting for this group to get out of the way. Finally when there was only one person left I clicked the shot. I have another without anyone in the frame.
Not much I can do about the pose since he was not posing for me.

Thank you Antonio-
I do wish I would have tried the flash a few times and I will when I go back. Problem is these canyons are not very wide so I will have to step the flash down and/or diffuse the flash to get a more natural look.
It will be challenging but I am planning on it. :wink
