my custom header disapears on gallery pages sometimes?

Hi lovely people. I'm having some issues with my new css'ed header. I used to have a html table header and I've just converted it to probably broken css, but it displays fine in all the browsers i've tried. (safari, ie, firefox, mozilla)

My problem is that my header shows up on home page, but I only see the smugmug logo on my gallery pages. But not all the time. If I choose a gallery from the dropdown at the bottom of the customise page, my header shows up on the gallery page. If I just browse to it from the front page then I only see the smugmug logo.

What is different between the two?

ok this is strange, this gallery is displaying my header:

Under gallery tools, customize galley, make sure "custom" is checked under appearance and not "Smugmug".
