I'm the lucky owner of a Canon 24-105/4L. I've been saving up for a 70-200/4L IS, which has me thinking of whether I should eventually trade the 24-105 for a 17-55/2.8.
Pros:
- More wide for my 20D
- f/2.8
- Arguably better sharpness
Cons:
- Lose 55-105 range on my primary walkaround
- Lose L build
Has anyone gone down this road with experience to share? Thanks! :thumb

I have never had the 24-105, but I have the 17-55 and I love it. Great quality pictures, great large aperture. It has become my most used lens. I compliment it with a 70-200mm f/2.8 L.

As I shoot mostly events I use two cameras and my 17-55 is on one body and my 24-105 on the other. (Unless I'm shooting a concert or play and then I have the 70-200 F/2.8 on instead.)
I have not had my 17-55 all that long but so far I really like the results I am getting from it. It complements the 24-105 quite nicely.
