The 20D did a great job on focusing. That's one of the things I like better about it compared to the 10D or Rebel.

Great shots! :thumb Was there food involved in getting them to stay so close? Are they used to you?

My husband had bread. Otherwise it is difficult to get them to move. Harry, the only trick of getting one or two good photos of moving birds is to take a whole bunch and shoot with a wide lens at 17mm. :D Oh, and have your spouse keep the birds there. (I don't think he could do that with a heron)

Someone told me that it is quite a sight when the guy feeds those egrets and herons I go shoot a lot. I ran into a shrimper I know from my daughter's younger days, he told me they are fed just about at sunrise and they come from all over. (Better not tell yours about it, Harry. The Fla birds could show up here, too) If I really trusted that he feeds them every morning at the same time, I would get up and go, but I don't think that happens.

I am looking at mega rain tomorrow.

Thanks you all for coming by and commenting. I just PMd Fish how about how much I love that lens. The color is phenominal, and it is very easy to use.

I could have used a couple of these for the challenge, but I think the pelican shots are better. I have never seen pelican shots like that. That was great light. I am using one for my avatar in case you haven't seen them.
